Weather and Emergency-Related Closings:
At times, conditions such as severe weather, fire, or power failure can disrupt Agency operations. When these conditions occur, the Executive Staff and/or Division Director will decide whether to close or relocate operations.
The Agency does not close during inclement weather even if services are not provided due to transportation/travel concerns. All employees are expected to report for their scheduled hours within a reasonable time for safe travel. The Agency announces program/service closure for the benefit of our program participants/clients and their families/caregivers. Notification of program/service closure is announced on the People, Incorporated Website, radio station WSAR 1480 AM, and on the radio and television stations of the Rhode Island Broadcasters Association. Employees who do not report to work will not be paid, but may use Available Time to be paid.
Due to the unique operation of the Residential Support Services Division, overnight staff should be prepared to stay on duty until coverage arrives and second shift staff should report to work at 9:00 a.m., or when safe to do so, since individuals’ day activities may be delayed or cancelled.
