People, Incorporated Announces Reorganization and Promotions

People, Incorporated, one of the faster growing businesses in Fall River, is excited to announce a reorganization of their corporate structure to better serve the needs of the community. 

Serving the Southcoast community, including the Greater Fall River, New Bedford, and Taunton areas People, Incorporated is a partnership of specialized, integrated programs, providing unique opportunities to people with life challenges. For over 44 years, People, Incorporated has been one of the largest providers of supports and services to people of all abilities in the community.  “As our Agency continues to evolve and grow, it is critical that those staff who have been an integral part of our success be given the opportunity to assume a larger role in the leadership of this organization. This restructuring will result in the promotion of several key executive management team members within our Agency”, stated Robert Canuel, President and CEO.

William Perkins, has been promoted to the position of Chief Operating Officer.  Mr. Perkins came to this Agency in 1986 and has held several key positions in his time here.  Most recently, Mr. Perkins held the position Director of Operations and in that role was responsible for the many day to day operations of several programs within the Agency.  In his new role Mr. Perkins will oversee the Vice Presidents of the Adult Services and Community, Child and Family Divisions as well as the agency’s Human Resources Department of the Agency.

Mark Duval has been promoted to the position of Vice President of Adult Services.  Another veteran employee with over 22 years at People, Incorporated, Mr. Duval has held a number of positions within the Residential Services Department of the Agency the most recent being the Director of Residential Services.  By merging both our Residential and Day Services Programs, he will be directly responsible for the programs of the Adult Services division which include our Residential Services programs, our Day Habilitation programs, Employment Services and Econ, our Commercial Cleaning business.

Jenny DiBlasi came to People, Incorporated in 2009 to establish the newly developed division, the Family Advocacy and Community Education Division (FACE).  In this role, Ms. DiBlasi effortlessly assumed the task of helping to provide individuals and family members in our communities with appropriate services to increase family stability and opportunities.    In her new position as Vice President of Community, Child and Family Services, Ms. DiBlasi will oversee a wide range of programs under the Community, Child & Family Services Division which include; the FACE Center, Community Supports, Adult Foster Care, SMILES Mentoring, Diabetes Association, Training, Early Intervention, Early Intervention Partnership Program, Healthy Families, The Young Parents’ Learning Center and the Children’s Center.  Bringing these programs together under one umbrella will improve coordination of services and create opportunities for creative program development.

Pam O'Neill began her career at People, Incorporated in 2008 and has been promoted to Vice President of Communications and Administration. Pam recently held the position of Director of Communications and Development for the Agency. In her new position, Pam will be responsible for marketing, development and communications as well as the administrative service areas for the Agency.

Megan Scheffer has been the Accounting Manager at People Incorporated since 2008 and recently became the Vice President of Finance. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2002 from the University of Massachusetts -Dartmouth. While at UMASS Dartmouth, Megan was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society and the Golden Key National Honor Society. She also received the award for having the highest scholastic standing in the Charlton College of Business. In 2010 she received her MBA, also from UMASS Dartmouth.

Mr. Canuel added, “We are extremely excited about all of the positive changes that are continuing to happen at our Agency.  People, Incorporated has been adding 25-30 new employees a year for the past 8 years.  We are confident that our growth will continue under the direction of these talented and capable leaders.”

People, Incorporated’s One Step Closer to Moving into the Downtown Area.

People, Incorporated is pleased to announce that it has signed a purchase and sale agreement for the acquisition of the Citizens Union Savings Bank building located on 4 South Main Street in downtown Fall River.

This purchase is the culmination of a lengthy process to find a building suitable for the current and future needs of People, Incorporated. Canuel states, “We believe in the future of the downtown Fall River area and feel strongly that by increasing our presence in downtown, we will help to revitalize the area. We are proud that we will locate more than 100 professional jobs in this building and further, within the next two to three years, we anticipate adding 50 more new jobs to that number.”

People, Incorporated has developed an expanded array of services in recent years and has also developed additional locations in the Taunton and New Bedford areas. Canuel, who has been President and CEO since 2003, has overseen the addition of numerous new programs that strive to improve educational development, job skills, and family support for the community. People, Incorporated anticipates occupying the newly acquired building sometime in the spring of 2012.
